Australia calls Myanmar's Vice-Senior General in attempts to free detained academic Sean Turnell

In a statement, a Defence spokesperson said Vice-Admiral Johnston "expressed Australia's deep concern at the situation in Myanmar and reiterated Australia's call for the immediate release of Professor Sean Turnell." The Defence statement also said that Vice-Admiral Johnston called "the use of lethal force or violence against peaceful protestors" unacceptable.
